/*
 * Self-hosted Inter + Space Grotesk (variable fonts, SIL OFL 1.1).
 *
 * Replaces a render-blocking third-party stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com,
 * which cost one extra DNS + TLS + RTT in front of first paint on every one of
 * the 27 pages, plus two <link rel=preconnect> to make that cheaper.
 *
 * WHY THERE ARE ONLY 4 FILES AND NOT 12
 * Both families are VARIABLE fonts. Google's css2 endpoint happily hands the
 * same file out three times when you ask for `wght@400;500;600` (verified: the
 * three per-weight blocks resolve to one identical URL, and the 12 downloaded
 * files hash down to 4). Asking for the whole axis instead returns
 * `font-weight: 100 900` / `300 700` on the same four URLs, which is the
 * correct declaration for a variable face and is what is used below. The ranges
 * come from Google's own axis response, so they are the axis limits that file
 * actually implements, not a guess.
 *
 * WHY latin-ext IS HERE EVEN THOUGH NOTHING DOWNLOADS IT TODAY
 * `unicode-range` means a browser fetches a subset only if the page contains a
 * codepoint in it. The whole homepage's non-ASCII is em dash, en dash and
 * middle dot, all inside `latin`, so latin-ext costs 0 bytes on the wire and
 * 104 KB on disk. It is kept so a European buyer's name or a flavour with
 * diacritics renders in the real typeface instead of falling back. Do not
 * "optimise" these two blocks away, and do not wonder why they never show up
 * in a waterfall.
 *
 * CACHING NOTE: these URLs are referenced WITHOUT a ?ver= query on purpose, so
 * the <link rel=preload> in header.php and the URL here are the same object and
 * the browser downloads each font once. Consequence: if a font file is ever
 * REPLACED in place, visitors hold the old one for up to 30 days
 * (max-age=2592000). So change the FILENAME (e.g. inter-v2-latin.woff2), not
 * just the bytes.
 *
 * Only woff2 is shipped. It is supported by every browser since Chrome 36 /
 * Firefox 39 / Safari 10 / Edge 14; anything older falls through to the
 * `system-ui, sans-serif` tail of the existing font stack, which is intentional.
 *
 * Provenance: fetched from fonts.gstatic.com on 2026-09-26; unicode-range and
 * font-weight values copied verbatim out of Google's own CSS, not retyped.
 * Licenses: OFL-inter.txt and OFL-space-grotesk.txt next to the files.
