Retail-Ready Vape Pod Packaging: Gift Boxes, Display Boxes and Label Basics

Packaging is the part of a private-label program that buyers decide last and pay for first. It is also the decision with the longest clock attached: 1,000 packs per design and a 45-day turnaround from approved artwork, against 5–7 working days for a standard order. This page is how the three packaging levels differ, what to send so a design survives its first review, and which on-pack content is yours to settle with your own authority.

The three levels we supply

Standard retail packs

What the base quote assumes: the supplier pack for the line and flavor you ordered, from 100 packs per flavor, dispatching in 5–7 working days. Every pack carries the anti-counterfeit code, printed on both the outer carton and the inner box so a unit can be checked against the carton it arrived in. For a distributor building a catalog, this is the right starting point — the fastest way to find out whether a flavor turns is to sell it in the pack it already ships in.

Custom gift boxes and retail-ready formats (OEM / ODM)

Your logo on pods and packaging, custom gift boxes, display boxes and retail-ready multi-packs, from 1,000 packs per design with a 45-day turnaround from approved artwork. Design mockups are produced before production at no charge, so you approve a visual rather than a description. Full terms and the process order are on the OEM / ODM program page.

Exclusive flavor development

A separate conversation with a longer lead time, because it changes the fill run as well as the box. It is usually the second private-label order rather than the first — once you know which of the 30+ profiles behave in your market, from the availability list that comes with your quote.

Which format earns its cost

Packaging formats and the decision each one is really paying for.
Format What it does on the shelf Who it suits
Standard retail pack Nothing beyond identification — the flavor and spec have to sell themselves. Distributors testing demand; anyone whose first order is a first order.
Display box Holds the range facing forward at the counter, so the customer sees options without a staff member opening stock. Convenience and vape-retail channels with counter space and repeat replenishment. Larger outers and shelf-ready displays also reduce service calls on high-capacity lines.
Gift box Raises the retail position of the same contents; reads as a present rather than a refill. Campaign and seasonal runs, and capacity lines positioned as premium.
Retail-ready multi-pack Cuts the touches between your carton and the shelf — staff do not build a display, they place one. Chains and operators with many doors and little in-store labor.

The cost logic follows the minimum, not the artwork: the expensive unit in private label is the design, not the individual pack. One design run across several flavors is materially cheaper than one design per flavor, and it is the usual way a first private-label order stays inside a sensible budget.

What to send for artwork

  1. Logo in vector form (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) plus the color values you want held. A raster logo from a website header will not scale cleanly onto a box and costs a redraw.
  2. The line and capacity to lead with. On the high-capacity specs the capacity itself is the message — 3 ml and 4 ml are commonly used as the headline feature on pack, which is why those lines are popular for differentiation campaigns.
  3. A dieline if you already have one. If not, we produce the mockup first and you approve that before anything goes into production.
  4. The flavors in the design, and which share it. A family look with a flavor color per variant is cheaper than eight separate designs and reads better on a display box.
  5. A hard date, if you have one. A campaign deadline can be worked around, but it has to be named at the start — the 45 days run from your artwork approval, so a late approval is the delay, not the press.

What goes on the label: whose call

The split is straightforward. We supply the product, the packaging, the export documentation and the verification codes. We do not supply legal interpretation of your market’s rules, and a supplier who promises they do is taking a risk with your cargo rather than theirs.

  • Yours to confirm: mandatory warning text, language requirements, health messaging, capacity or strength statements, plain-packaging rules, and whether a format may be displayed at all. These vary by market and change without notice; check with your own authority or broker before the design is approved.
  • Ours to supply: the physical pack and carton, codes on both levels, batch traceability from the production line, and the packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin and quality inspection report that travel with the dispatch. Additional certificates can be arranged on request.
  • Shared: the printed content itself — you specify what the label must say for your market, we make it work on the format you chose, and the proof you approve is the record of both.

One practical note: fix the label requirements before approving artwork, not after. Printing is the point of no return in a 45-day program, and it is the most common way a private-label order becomes two orders.

How a packaging order actually runs

  1. You send target line, volumes, destination, brand assets and the flavors sharing the design.
  2. An itemized quote comes back within 24 hours on business days, with the packaging adjustment separated from the product price so you can see what the format costs you.
  3. Free design mockups for approval — nothing is committed to production until you sign off the visual.
  4. Production with three rounds of QC: batch sampling, pre-pack inspection, pre-dispatch audit.
  5. Dispatch with tracked delivery and the customs documents, on the timeline your approved artwork started.

Payment for OEM runs on a 30% deposit with the balance before dispatch. Start from the contact page or the form below with the line and the format you have in mind; if a gift box is not worth the money on your volumes, we will say so and suggest the display box instead.
